Responsibilities
Assist staff metallurgists with investigations
Prepare metallographic samples
Perform mechanical and hardness tests
Perform SEM analyses
Publish technical reports
Maintain Materials Engineering equipment
Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards
Frequent contact with others outside the work group
Provide manufacturing, engineering, and field technical support
Physical labor required including lifting parts & equipment weighing up to 35 lb
Work is conducted in a manufacturing environment
Travel as required to fulfill work assignments (will vary)
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in a BS Engineering program, specializing in Metallurgy or Materials Science & Engineering with a focus in metals
Completed introductory classes in Materials Science and the associated lab work
Classroom/lab training in Scanning Electron Microscopy
Have completed Sophomore year in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering degree program
Physical labor required including lifting parts & equipment weighing up to 35 lb
Work is conducted in a manufacturing environment
Travel as required to fulfill work assignments (will vary)
Preferred
Basic understanding of internal combustion engines; mechanical aptitude is a plus
