Responsibilities
Conduct independent research in infrared detector modeling and characterization
Develop and implement experimental protocols for detector testing and validation
Mentor and train graduate students in detector physics, experimental techniques, and laboratory best practices
Contribute to preparation of research publications and grant proposals
Present research findings at professional conferences
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or closely related field
Demonstrated expertise in infrared detector modeling and simulation
Comprehensive experience with the full suite of detector and focal plane array characterization techniques
Proven ability to teach and directly mentor graduate students in modern infrared detector physics and experimental methods
Reasonable publication record in relevant areas of infrared science
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a postdoc at VCU
Preferred
Experience with advanced IR detector architectures and emerging technologies
Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and measurement systems for detector characterization
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary research teams
