Senior Scientist - Fragrance

They are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Senior Scientist, Fragrance Evaluator to join their Fragrance R&D team, where the role involves leading and executing Fine Fragrance R&D initiatives and contributing to New Product Launch programs through strategic olfactive insights and technical guidance.

Responsibilities

Lead Fine Fragrance Projects – 50%
Spearhead the management and execution of fragrance R&D initiatives across a diverse portfolio of brands. Ensure strategic alignment with cross-functional teams—including R&D, Product Development, Packaging, and Supply Chain—to meet project milestones and deliver successful fine fragrance product launches
Fragrance Evaluation & Formulation – 20%
Provide expert sensory evaluation and technical formulation support to maintain fragrance integrity and brand alignment
Oversee critical evaluation functions such as stability testing, packaging compatibility assessments, and olfactive performance reviews
Develop and refine analytical methods to assess fragrance stability, longevity, and release profiles
Olfactive Development Oversight – 15%
Lead the assessment and approval of new fine fragrance productions, ensuring compliance with quality standards through rigorous stability testing and performance validation
Design and execute structured olfactive panels and consumer testing protocols
Analyze and interpret sensory data to guide fragrance selection and optimization
Trend Monitoring & Innovation – 15%
Continuously track emerging technologies, market trends, and innovations in fragrance creation
Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance product development, sustainability, and olfactive storytelling

Required

Must have a BS in Chemistry, or any other related field
5+ year's experience in fragrance evaluation; fragrance background preferred
Strong understanding of fragrance chemistry, formulation, and performance metrics
Proven expertise in sensory methodologies and statistical analysis of sensory data
Excellent organization, communication and follow-through skills with a keen eye for detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills; good presentation skills
Ability to think creatively and brainstorm new approaches, ingredients or ideas
Curious, collaborative and passionate problem-solver with a strong desire to understand the ‘why' behind the ‘what.'
Ability to connect the dots and build compelling and insightful stories that drive action, social media insights and analytics experience is a big plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Applications: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint needed

Preferred

Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Sensory Science, Perfumery, or related field
Experience with GC-MS, olfactometry, or other analytical instrumentation
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (IFRA, GHS, etc.)
Prior experience in consumer testing or market research related to fragrance
