SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER II - MECHANICAL
Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. is focused on providing engineering services and technical consultation for power generation. The Senior Project Engineer II - Mechanical will manage engineering activities to enhance the reliability and maintainability of the power plant, leading projects from planning through execution while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

Responsibilities
Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop, maintain and drive adherence to SECI standards, specifications, and work methods during the engineering design and construction phases of power generation projects
Controls the activities of outside consultants and contractors to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner and meets the obligations of the contract
Reviews proposal evaluations and recommendations with department managers to determine the best alternatives
Oversees performance of contracted engineering, coordinates all contractor and owner’s engineering interfaces, and ensures projects are completed according to project construction drawings, specifications, schedule, quality and performance requirements
Reviews potential and existing vendors to ensure their capability of providing equipment and/or systems that are reliable and maintainable
Leads/supports project team in documenting major project decisions. This includes the evaluation of alternatives, seeking and securing concurrence from key stakeholders, identifying and addressing/mitigating risks or issues within the project
Prepares specifications and engineering drawings for bid packages
Develops budgetary estimates for projects
Inspects major plant equipment such as boilers, turbines, precipitators, tanks etc
Assists in the creation and updating of ten-year project plan
Evaluates bid proposals and makes recommendations for award of contract
Investigates need for engineering changes to existing equipment and systems
Conducts economic, operating and maintenance feasibility studies of complex engineering situations and systems
Conducts analysis of complex engineering problems and design deficiencies and recommends solutions to management
Coordinates with project team to ensure that design, procurement and construction of projects are executed in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, schedules, and good engineering practice
Prepares engineering progress reports dealing with design, construction, budget, cash flow and manufacturing activities associated with assigned projects
Stays updated on project progress, technical issues, milestones and managed risks
Promotes safe behaviors and takes a proactive approach regarding personal safety, safety of others and complies with all OSHA and SECI safety rules. Must complete all necessary online or classroom safety courses as directed. Must participate in safety briefings and meetings
Takes a proactive approach regarding environmental rules and regulations governing the operation of the plant. Must complete all necessary online or classroom environmental courses as directed. Required to immediately report any environmental reportable incidents
Leads multidisciplinary project team to complete development, detailed engineering as well as construction planning and execution activities for generation projects
Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned
Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole's Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in "audit-ready" form. You should also be familiar with Seminole's Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole's compliance program and your duties and responsibilities in the SOM
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited curriculum is required
At least Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in large, modern power plants or industrial facilities dealing with design, construction and project management, operation and maintenance
Strong working knowledge and experience in the development of engineering and technical specifications, detailed engineering budgetary estimates, material assessments and evaluations, and project construction work plan
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction and/or repair of power generation facilities
