Field Civil Engineer – Water (Chicago)

Responsibilities

Create field reports and documentation of daily work performed on project sites
Produce accurate quantity data for use in generation of contractor pay estimates and material certification
Coordinate with designers as required for shop drawing reviews, requests for information and change orders
Maintain communication with Project Managers throughout the course of the project so they are informed of site progress
Maintain communication with Section Manager throughout the course of the project regarding project progress and issues
Solve technical problems related to the project parameters
Interface with client as needed
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies
Have the ability to work productively in an office setting during down time on project sites
All other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred
Bachelor's degree in civil or related engineering technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred
Master's degree in civil engineering and 2 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred
Strong knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Strong computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
