Deputy Associate Director - Travel Policy and Operations

USAJOBS is seeking a Deputy Associate Director - Travel Policy and Operations for the Department of the Treasury. In this role, you will serve as the Senior Travel Official (STO) and provide authoritative interpretation of the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) across the agency.

Responsibilities

Review and interpret travel regulations and policies. Ensure all travel is conducted in accordance with the (FTR) and provide authoritative interpretation of the regulations as it applies to the agency
Develop agency-wide travel management policies and programs tightly aligned with the FTR
Set performance measures, monitor vendor performance for travel programs and appraise vendor performance to achieve agency-wide efficiency, effectiveness and user satisfaction of travel services and programs
Conduct analysis and brief senior level agency officials on travel management performance, trends, and issues. In coordination with applicable agency personnel, including financial officials, incumbent works to integrate financial management operations and policies. Serve as liaison to the General Services Administration (GSA) on travel programs, policy, regulations, resources, and information concerning travel management

Required

Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National
All newly appointed employees to the federal service are subject to a probationary period if hired under a competitive service appointment, or a trial period if hired under an excepted service appointment
A one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required
Must successfully complete a background investigation
Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required
All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency
Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer
If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so
Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9
Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel
File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on
Undergo an income tax verification, if required
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement
For the GS-15 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service
Providing guidance and communication on policies directly related to booking domestic and international government travel for senior leadership within a government agency
Leading a team that partners with travel agencies and service providers who support government travel services
Representing a government entity at government wide forums such as General Services Administrations (GSA) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on travel policy and programs
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks
Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment
