Design Intern - Furniture Dealer

The Design Intern will assist with various design tasks, maintain the resource library, and support experienced designers while gaining hands-on experience in a professional showroom environment.

Responsibilities

Maintain Resource Library
Assist with Design Tasks
Shadow Design and Sales
Continued Learning
Skill Development
Create and/or edit Scout boards, Spec Books, PowerPoints and spreadsheets
Assist with field measures and site verifications
Learn about furniture systems and specifications
Research solutions for ancillary requests
Research solutions for A+D requests
Edit plans in design software for various stages of projects
Select fabrics/finishes for projects
Communicate with manufacturer reps to obtain fabric/finish samples for projects
Assist in the preparation of drawings with direction provided by the designer
Shadow designers to learn more about the role of a dealer designer
Learn what it takes to work in a professional showroom environment
Support preparation of design meetings with industry partners and end users
Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced designers
Demonstrates initiative in self-guided learning to continuously enhance product and industry knowledge

Required

Rising Junior or Senior in an Interior Design program

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop. The employee may occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds. This position may require travel between offices, jobsites, and/or client locations, which may involve extended periods of sitting or standing, lifting light luggage, and adapting to different time zones
