Health Technician (Telemetry)

Responsibilities
Telemetry Health Technicians at this level receive and interpret physicians' orders to place telemetry monitors, read and interpret cardiac rhythms, monitor treatments, document in the patient's medical record; operate, clean, and/or sanitize commonly used equipment
Assignments at this level require knowledge of medical terminology, common diseases affecting the patient population, the cardiac cycle, and electrophysiologic function of the heart
Provides continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring, interpretation and reporting from monitors that display cardiac and respiratory tracings to the appropriate clinical staff
Performs cardiac monitoring activities that include initiating, monitoring, interpreting, documenting, and discontinuing telemetry monitoring

Individual Occupational Requirement: This position's duties range widely in type and include support duties to medical and health personnel. You must have technician experience which is experience that requires application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the Surgical Technician position to be filled
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: 1) Knowledge of how to perform one's job. Refers to specialized knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience. 2) Gathers/documents essential and accurate information about patients such as medical history, vital signs, chief complaints, allergies, pertinent health problems, current medications. 3) Works and communicates with clients and customers (e.g., any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit provides, including individuals who work in your agency or in other agencies or organizations outside the Government) to satisfy their expectations. Preferred
Recent acute care experience
2-3 years of recent remote telemetry monitoring experience
Ability to identify a variety of normal to life-threatening arrhythmias
Able to provide EKG course completion certificate
