Business Unit Control Manager

Responsibilities

Play a key role in the creation, enhancement, and ongoing execution of the business unit’s control frameworks and policy development to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Develop, monitor, and test preventative and detective controls with a robust QA program to align with regulatory requirements
Stay abreast of changes in the regulatory landscape (e.g., EFTA, TILA, UDAAP) and advise business units on necessary changes to policies, products, and practices to remain compliant
Perform ongoing reviews of marketing, consumer complaints, and disclosures to identify compliance risks. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions where necessary
Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to ensure seamless compliance processes and to address emerging regulatory issues
Provide ongoing training to internal teams on compliance standards and best practices, fostering a culture of compliance across the organization
Prepare and maintain accurate records of compliance activities, regulatory changes, and risk mitigation efforts. Regularly report on the effectiveness of compliance controls to senior management

Required

5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or internal controls within the financial services or fintech sector
At least 3+ years of experience working in consumer protection laws, including Reg Z, Reg E, UDAAP, or similar regulations
Strong understanding of key consumer protection regulations, including but not limited to EFTA, TILA, UDAAP, and other financial regulatory frameworks
Demonstrated ability to advise product, marketing, engineering, risk, and operations teams on compliance issues related to consumer protection, fair lending, and regulatory risk
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks, perform detailed reviews, and develop actionable solutions to mitigate compliance issues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex regulatory concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making
Experience independently executing quality, timely compliance management system components
