Structural Plan Check Engineer
Interwest Consulting Group is a leader in providing municipal services to cities and counties throughout the Western United States. They are currently seeking a talented and experienced Structural Plans Examiner to review structural plans for construction projects, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
Primarily review structural plans for construction projects
Reviews plans and specifications for projects to ensure compliance with city, State of CA, and federal laws and regulations. Provide timely oral and/or written communication detailing design and/or construction deficiencies in plans and specifications
Provide excellent customer service
Review building permits with regards to regulations set by the Building Divisions
Assist inspectors with difficult or unusual code compliance issues and answer questions from inspectors about plan review comments
Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with directors, managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects/assignments
Qualification
Required
Structural Professional Engineer Required
5+ years' experience in structural design and structural plan review
Experience with CA Codes specific to Structural design
Experience/knowledge of wood, concrete, steel and masonry buildings/structures, including CBC, CRC, ASCE7, NDS, AISC, ACI318, ACI530 and AISI standards
Experience/knowledge of wood, steel and concrete lateral load resisting systems (SMF, OMF, BRBF, SCBF, wood and concrete shear walls, etc.)
Experience/knowledge of structural design software (i.e. ENERCALC, ETABS, SAP, RISA, ADAPT, HILTI Profis, Simpson Anchor design, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology
Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital
Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
Valid driver's license with good driving record
Preferred
ICC Building Plan Review Certification Preferred
ICC Plan Review Certifications in multiple trades preferred
E.I.T. on track to obtain PE license is acceptable
