Postdoctoral Associate
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in Chemistry to join Prof. Robert J. Gilliard, Jr.'s laboratory. The role involves conducting research on small-molecule activation, utilizing various synthetic methods and characterization techniques, while also mentoring junior lab members.

Responsibilities
Work on projects related to small-molecule activation
Conduct synthetic methods that involve stoichiometric, catalytic, photocatalytic, or electrochemical bond activation strategies
Conduct advanced chemical synthesis and various characterization methods, including but not limited to use of an inert atmosphere glovebox and Schlenk line, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and X-ray crystallography
Ensure appropriate research record-keeping and data management
Maintain laboratory instrumentation
Serve as a mentor and resource for junior lab members
Qualification
Required
A Ph.D. in Chemistry by the start date
strong publication record in synthetic chemistry and photophysics
excellent leadership and communication skills, both oral and written
Preferred
Experience with DFT or quantum-chemical calculations
