ECS is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work in our Honolulu, HI office. The Senior Network Engineer for the Pacific region supports the medical mission of the DoD and ensures that the highly complex and technical requirements related to the infrastructure are addressed, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN/WAN communication equipment.

Responsibilities

Identify and resolve larger, more complex LAN/WLAN/WAN network problems and issues

Research network-level problems using network management tools

Provide high-level installation, configuration, documentation, management, and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN/WAN communication equipment for all DHA networked facilities within the Pacific Region

Serve as the regional point of contact for network issues, configuration management, and communications interconnection, addressing, and multi-protocol routing and network management

Advise and consult with government staff, agencies, and other contractor representatives involved with LAN/WLAN/WAN design, network implementation, network deployment, and network management

Interface with and lead Network Specialists and internal or external organizations to resolve LAN/WLAN/WAN issues

Resolve technical issues associated with network and routing protocols at all levels of the OSI model using diagnostics and network administration tools such as Orion SolarWinds, ARMIS, and Ansible

Establish and configure network firewalls, VPN devices, and IDSs to maintain LAN/WLAN – WAN barrier systems that prevent unauthorized access to MTF systems

Provide written recommendations to personnel in the field by making changes to network-level operations or enhancements to the network (tuning or upgrade)

Study vendor products to determine which components and configurations best meet the requirements of DoD and MTFs in the Pacific region

Establish and implement LAN/WLAN/WAN procedures and standards to ensure compliance with DoD, DHA, and DHA Pacific Regional Command objectives and policies

Communicate with key customers on the status of all network support requests

Continuously evaluate and resolve complex technical issues associated with network and routing protocols at all levels of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model using diagnostics and network administration tools

Provide proactive input on policies and issues related to standardization, and develop and write policies and procedures that identify best practice solutions necessary for operations in support of the LAN/WLAN/WAN

Define and establish minimum standards related to LAN/WLAN/WAN access and its impact on overall network operations

Lead/participate in other projects, providing support as needed

Required

Experience in supporting complex LAN/WLAN/WAN network problems and issues

Proficiency in using network management tools such as Orion SolarWinds, ARMIS, and Ansible

Understanding of Management Information Blocks (MIB) and MRTG

Ability to establish and configure network firewalls, VPN devices, and IDSs

Experience in providing high-level installation, configuration, documentation, management, and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN/WAN communication equipment

Knowledge of network design, implementation, deployment, and management

Ability to communicate effectively with government staff, agencies, and contractor representatives

Experience in documenting network-level operations and enhancements

Ability to establish and implement LAN/WLAN/WAN procedures and standards

Experience in evaluating and resolving complex technical issues associated with network and routing protocols at all levels of the OSI model

Ability to lead and participate in projects providing network support
