The Highways Design Engineer will be responsible for engineering design, interpreting and organizing assignments, and coordinating project tasks while ensuring quality benchmarks are met.

Responsibilities

Assist with alternative studies
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to complete a task
Perform design computations
Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure task completion on schedule and while meeting established quality benchmarks
Work in a team environment as well as individually
Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualification

Civil engineering degreeBentley design softwareMicrosoft OfficeEngineer-in-training certificationWritten communicationOral communication

Required

Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
0-5 years of experience in civil engineering or related field
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Written and oral communication skills

Preferred

Engineer-in-training certification
Experience in Bentley design software (OpenRoads Designer/MicroStation)
Internships/Work experience with PA civil/structural engineering consultants working on PennDOT or PA Turnpike related projects
Membership in ASCE/ASHE Student Chapters
