Technician, Shift Lead, QAQC Lab

The Quality Assurance Laboratory Analyst will ensure process and product quality standards are being achieved through chemical and physical analytical techniques, while also implementing manufacturing test methods for a greenfield advanced manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

Operate laboratory analytical equipment including some combination of ICP, LECO, optical microscopes, dimensional analysis and magnetometry
Operate advanced characterization equipment and perform data analysis (XRD, XRF, SEM)
Review and record analytical results in LIMS/database
Support testing method development, assessment, validation, and roll-out under guidance of the Quality team
Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
Assist in tracking and maintaining the chemical inventory
Perform lab housekeeping and routine inspections
Participating in Gage R&R and other measurement system assessments
Actively participate in Kaizen events, safety programs, and adhere to all appropriate laboratory safety and operations procedures
Maintain safe work practices
Participate in Process Hazard Analysis procedures and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews
Lead quality control initiatives, develop and maintain quality standards, train, and mentor junior Analysts
Works closely with EHS to ensure that all work is done to ensure world-class health and safety, and full compliance with relevant environmental regulations

Required

Aptitude and experience with chemical testing techniques and instrumentation
Experience with chemical test methods and material characterization of rare earth materials
Ability in contributing to the procurement and development of quality control and quality assurance protocols for equipment
Proficient in SAP for material handling and purchasing requisitions

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or other relevant science or engineering fields
2-3 years of laboratory testing within a manufacturing environment or 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment focused on rare earth magnets
Demonstrated hands on experience (at least 5): ICP-OES, Elemental Analyzers (LECO), magnetometer, metallography sample preparation, SEM, XRD, TGA/DSC
Experience in IATF 16949 compliant manufacturing environments
Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification
Python/LIMS/data management experience
