Responsibilities

Provide on-site support of 31st Combat Training Squadron’s Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) training systems located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada
Design, plan, and implement reliable and scalable LAN, WAN, WLAN, and network architectures
Develop network topology diagrams, capacity plans, and redundancy strategies
Evaluate and recommend network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points) and software solutions
Ensure network designs meet performance, security, and compliance requirements
Install, configure, and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs
Implement VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and QoS policies
Configure and troubleshoot IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and subnetting
Proactively identify and resolve network bottlenecks, outages, and latency issues
Ensure high uptime and reliability across all critical network infrastructure
Diagnose and resolve Layer 1–7 network issues efficiently
Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and cybersecurity teams to resolve cross-functional issues
Implement and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs
Conduct regular network security audits and vulnerability assessments
Ensure compliance with organizational, government, or industry standards
Maintain detailed troubleshooting documentation and incident reports
Maintain accurate network diagrams, device inventories, and configuration documentation
Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network changes and incident response
Continuously assess and improve network efficiency and scalability
Design and implement network redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery solutions
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and support staff
Communicate network changes and incidents clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
Experience in Network Design and Implementation
Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills working independently and as part of a technical team
Demonstrated strong work ethic and initiative to troubleshoot, address, and prevent problems on complex tasks and systems
Must have had an Active DOD Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI and relevant SAP/SAR Clearance

Preferred

JSE Network Implementation and Maintenance is highly desired
Knowledge and/or experience with components of JSE or DoD training simulators is highly desired
Experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other productivity products is highly desired
Up to date with emerging network technologies (SD-WAN, 5G, IPv6, Zero Trust)
Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent
