Test Instrumentation Engineer

Responsibilities
Serve as a key team member for Mojave test operations, including but not limited to component integration and testing, integrated engine and propulsion system testing, and flight vehicle testing
Create, test, run, and troubleshoot scripts to support console operations
Develop and maintain engine test stand control and Data Acquisition (DAQ) system, including implementation of test article instrumentation, valve hardware and control logic, and perform checkout of systems prior to testing
Configure, monitor, test, and maintain instrumentation, process controls, data acquisition systems, and electrical systems to support real time recording of test data
Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and modify developmental and production electrical and electronic units, assemblies, components, parts, equipment, and systems
Develop integration and test products including test plans, work instructions, test procedures, and test reports
Generate and support discrepancy documentation and ensure test processes and test disciplines are being followed during integration and test execution
Work with systems engineers to develop test requirements, maintain appropriate documentation, and support design verification via test
Ensure safe and successful test activities in a variety of environments
Provide input to ground support equipment design and operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, or mechanical engineering
3+ years of professional experience working with controls, electrical systems, integration and test, or flight operations
Experience in developing, troubleshooting, testing, and calibration of instrumentation systems and equipment
C/C++ programming experience
Experience with Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) data acquisition
Fabrication and assembly skills with electrical components and harnesses
Operational knowledge of an oscilloscope and multi-meter, soldering wires and connectors, operation of various crimping tools, wire stripping, continuity testing, pinning out a connector, and routing cables
Excellent communication and team interaction skills, strong work ethic, and intrinsic self-motivation
Preferred
Understanding of cryogenic propulsion systems
Professional experience working with engine and propulsion test
Experience safely testing with and handling hazardous materials (cryogens, high pressure gas, etc.)
Experience working with instrumentation such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, valves, flow meters, multimeters, or oscilloscopes
Knowledge in data acquisition concepts, hardware, and interfacing (National Instruments PXIe and CDAQ based)
Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to design parts/assemblies (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience with Plumbing and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Understanding of regulatory and industrial standards and codes
