Aircraft Mechanic III – APG / Engines

Responsibilities
Removes, installs, inspects, repairs, T-38 A/B/C propulsion systems, modules and components
Prepares propulsion systems for receiving / installation, storage, or transportation
Tests components using bench mockups and test equipment
Installs and removes propulsion systems on stands, and operates, evaluates, and performs test stand functions
Inspects and maintains propulsion ground SE. Performs operator inspections on related SE
Implements maintenance and safety policies for propulsion systems
Analyzes, interprets, and recommends propulsion systems maintenance actions based on unscheduled removals and monitoring system data
Coordinates with the designated propulsion systems manager to analyze scheduled removal intervals
Uses the automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database
Uses and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards
May be required to perform maintenance on aircraft, including avionics, mechanical systems, and/or ground support equipment
May include Designated System Inspector (DSI) duties
Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements
Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks
Maintain strict tool control procedures. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools
Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor
Maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily
The Aerospace Propulsion Technician will be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
8+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience with fixed wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft required
Must have current practical experience on maintaining, servicing, removing, and installing General Electric J85-GE-5 turbojet with afterburner propulsion system or similar systems
Experience supporting DoD contracts
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field required
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
Preferred
Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A6X1 highly desirable
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification a plus
