Responsibilities
Lead a team that builds and manages a complex set of capabilities in support of our emerging cloud observability product, logging and analytics platform, data engineering and routing functions
Contribute to the direction for Capital Group’s next generation of Workload Automation capabilities
Drive the application of modern engineering methods to achieve superior long-term investment results
Coach and develop the team of Platform Engineers
Manage people in multiple locations and time zones
Ensure efficient delivery of code by collaborating with Product Managers and Scrum Masters
Qualification
Required
Experience with Observability engineering using a combination of technologies such as Datadog, Splunk, and Terraform and are familiar with open standards including Open Telemetry
Comfortable managing people in multiple locations and time zones
Prior experience in leading teams is highly desirable
Good understanding of product-focused development and enjoy working with Product Managers and Scrum Masters to ensure the efficient delivery of code
Continuous learner who seeks out stretch opportunities to innovate with new technologies, acquiring necessary technical skills and expanding business acumen
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
Experience with Observability: Datadog, Cribl Logstream, and open standards like Open Telemetry
Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar products
Expert level of knowledge with Observability platforms like Splunk, Datadog, Grafana/Grafana Cloud
Proficient in Software Development with languages such as Python, Java, or Go
10+ years of experience working in engineering technologies and 5+ years as a people manager
Familiarity with building large-scale, robust platforms
Experience designing/developing APIs and microservices
Experience with Observability and/or Operational Intelligence
Familiarity with DevOps/DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
In-depth experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Mastery of GitOps and Kubernetes orchestration
Experience applying DevOps practices throughout the SDLC lifecycle using technologies such as JIRA, Confluence, Harness and Github
Experience writing test automation and unit tests, as well as performing integration testing across multiple product integrations
Familiarity with Internal Developer Platforms such as Spotify Backstage
Skills to administer and troubleshoot in DevOps/Deployment
Scripting and development skills in Shell, Bash
Proficient technical documentation skills, with emphasis on High-Level and Low-Level Design
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with strong communication and collaboration skills
