Senior Substation Design Engineer

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Substation Design Engineer to join their Power & Energy team in Orlando, FL. The role involves detailed design of utility substations and leading technical assignments on various projects.

Responsibilities

Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substations
Perform detailed design of one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
Leads tasks for technical assignments on projects
Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, tracking and organizing many tasks of varying importance and size
Team Player – Responsive, reliable and collaborative
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, from an accredited university, preferably with a power option
Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards
Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently
5+ years of experience in utility substation design, as outlined above
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Preferred

Master's Degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer License
Experience in 230kV through 500kV substation design
Experience in managing small project teams
Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or Inventor
