Lead Electrical Engineer (Hydropower)
USAJOBS is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer (Hydropower) for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division. The role involves leading the Electrical Engineer Team, providing technical assistance and quality assurance at hydropower plants, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications during operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities
Serves as the Electrical Engineer Team Leader in the Test Section of the Hydropower Section, Operations Technical Support Branch, providing general assistance to the various Power Projects
Serves as site technical lead and quality assurance representative on jobs performed by contractors at assigned hydropower plants
Serves as technical advisor to Hydropower Managers and superintendents on engineering problems and provides engineering assistance to other personnel performing installation and maintenance work of electrical equipment at power projects
Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload
Serves as a specialist and agency technical expert in electrical equipment and systems
Monitors and/or directs non-routine in-house work involving replacement/upgrade of various systems at assigned hydropower plants
Responsible for performance testing of equipment and systems for compliance with plans and specifications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering from an accredited program
Experience in designing circuits to troubleshoot miss operation in a hydropower electric power plant
Experience in programming protective relay or testing to ensure safe operation of a power plant
Experience in analyzing data to troubleshoot miss operation of a power plant
Experience in mentoring team members to ensure proper testing, troubleshooting, operations and maintenance repair of power plant equipment
U.S. Citizenship
Proof of U.S. Citizenship
Completion of a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration (for male applicants born after December 31, 1959)
Completion of a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
