CommercialIndustrialMachinery ManufacturingManufacturing
Responsibilities
Review routed operations and their instructions to machine parts according to the planned process
Determine the sequence of cutting parameters using best practices and templates to select the proper cutting tool paths/strategies needed to machine work pieces, considering work holding techniques (i.e. fixtures, vises, etc.)
Revise programs to eliminate errors and re-validate programs to check that problems have been solved
Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
Determine reference points, machine cutting tool paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures
Observe machines on first runs and/or conduct computer simulations/verifications to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet the customers specifications
Compare programs or computer printouts with original part specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions
Generate programs in the language of a machine's controller or on CAM system and store programs on company network drives according to SOP. This will include working with a server-based DNC system or a manual program transfer system
Optimize existing programs as needed and working with the machine tool operators directly to fix and improve program function
Utilize the Companies Internal Info-share to store or retrieve parts patterns, graphic displays, or programs that transfer data to other media
Review CAM posts operate as the machine tools require and troubleshoot problems with the post processor with the assistance of the CAM provider/supplier
