Outpatient Hepatobiliary Surgery PA/NP - Washington, D.C.

MedStar Health is seeking a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to join their Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The role is primarily clinic-based, managing preoperative and postoperative HPB surgery patients, and involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Manage a panel of non-surgical, preoperative, and postoperative patients, ensuring continuity of care for complex HPB conditions
Perform office-based procedures
Work closely with a highly specialized liver, bile duct, pancreas surgery team, and the Living Donor Liver team
Participate in medical education, working closely with medical students, general surgery residents, and an HPB surgery fellow
Engage in clinical research and publication as needed

Required

District of Columbia Registered Nurse License and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License required
DEA and NPI numbers may be required, along with prescriptive authority
Strong foundation in surgical patient management, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
Certification as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority in the District of Columbia
Strong clinical skills with the ability to work autonomously in a high-acuity surgical setting
Graduate of an accredited PA program or Acute Care NP program
Current licensure in the District of Columbia (or ability to obtain)
Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills

Preferred

Experience in surgical oncology, gastroenterology, or HPB surgery preferred
Prior experience in pre and postoperative management of general surgery, surgical oncology, or hepatobiliary surgery preferred
