Responsibilities

Make sure that major stories are covered during the given shift by coordinating news teams, resources, and logistics

Establish priorities and assign news units to cover them

Organize the news gathering team's duties and collaborate on article ideas

Respond to breaking news quickly and effectively; organize numerous live field workers and the chopper

Identify the news events that should be covered and work with editors to decide which reporter should cover each event

Required

Assignment desk experience in a television newsroom - 4+ years

Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communication or comparable television work experience preferred

Ability to develop sources

Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; ability to relate well with populations

Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure deadline

Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community

Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to 'breaking news' and severe weather emergencies. Willing and able to work weekends and holidays

Works inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year. Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment
