Responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed performance models (e.g., C++/SystemC/TLM) for CPU and subsystem architectures
Analyze microarchitectural bottlenecks, explore design trade-offs, and provide quantitative feedback to architecture and design teams
Collaborate with RTL design and verification teams to ensure performance models align with functional and cycle-accurate simulations
Define and execute performance verification plans; correlate model results with RTL and silicon data
Work with software, compiler, and workload teams to understand performance characteristics of target applications
Generate detailed performance reports and recommendations to drive architectural and microarchitectural optimizations
Contribute to the development of modeling methodologies, automation frameworks, and performance validation flows
Support post-silicon performance validation, including workload analysis and root-cause performance deviations

Required

Bachelors in Electrical/Computer Engineer with 10+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters in Electrical/Computer Engineer with 8+ years or PhD with in Electrical/Computer Engineer with 5+ years preferred
7+ years of experience in CPU or SoC architecture, performance modeling, or microarchitecture design
Strong programming skills in C++, SystemC, Python, or equivalent modeling languages
Solid understanding of CPU pipelines, memory hierarchy, out-of-order execution, branch prediction, and cache coherency
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret and present complex performance data
Familiarity with industry-standard CPU benchmarks and workloads (e.g., SPEC, Geekbench, MLPerf)
Knowledge of power-performance trade-offs, performance counters, and instrumentation techniques
Hands-on experience with performance verification, including correlation with RTL simulation or silicon data preferred
Experience with functional verification environments (UVM, simulation-based, or formal) preferred
Exposure to post-silicon bring-up, performance counter analysis, and workload characterization preferred
Excellent collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional engineering teams preferred
