Responsibilities

Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors
Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures, provide detailed instructions to subordinates on new procedures
First level supervisor over locomotive repair, preservation, operation, and quality control activities of the Railroad Operations Branch in the Logistics Support Directorate
Participate with their superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work

Required

Ability to do the work of an Railroad Operations Supervisor without more than normal supervision
Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles)
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation)
Ability to Lead or Supervise
Ability to Operate Safely (Non-motor Vehicles)
Operation of Motor Vehicles
Reliability and Dependability
Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order)
Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
Successfully complete the Civilian Education System Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months in the position
Complete a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5 % of the time
This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer
This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed
