Responsibilities
Review architectural drawings, specifications, and RFIs; identify scope, gaps, and risk factors
Perform detailed material and labour take-offs for glazing systems, doors, partitions, decorative glass, and exterior storefront packages
Develop comprehensive cost estimates including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor quotes, and overhead/margin
Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals with pricing breakdowns, clarifications, alternates, and value engineering options
Work closely with operations and business development to determine bid strategy and bid/no-bid decisions
Build strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing and coverage
Maintain a historical cost database for benchmarking and forecasting future projects
Lead and manage the estimating team, ensuring accurate pricing, consistent processes, and high-quality proposals
Oversee all departmental activities including bid calendars, scope reviews, and final proposal submissions
Review junior estimators’ take-offs, scopes, and pricing to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
Direct estimating strategy on complex projects up to $5M, including risk assessment and value engineering
Collaborate with executive leadership during preconstruction, design development, and client presentations
Develop relationships with key general contractors, architects, and suppliers to strengthen market position
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
Estimator: 3–5+ years in glazing, façades, or specialty contracting
Estimating Manager: 7–10+ years of estimating experience with supervisory or leadership responsibilities
Strong understanding of glazing systems including interior/exterior storefronts, doors, partitions, mirrors, decorative glass, and specialty hardware
Proficiency in estimating tools such as Bluebeam, Procore Estimating, Excel, or similar platforms
Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple bids, tight deadlines, and fast-changing priorities
