NEOGOV is seeking a Part Time Sports Field Grounds Crew member to join the Parks Department of the City of Brownwood. This role involves skilled manual labor focused on the care and maintenance of ballparks and recreational facilities, primarily during league play and tournaments.

Responsibilities

Weed eating and cutting grass in recreation areas and all ball-fields
Irrigation and repair
Cleans restrooms in complex and recreational buildings
Repairs fences, gates, bleachers and general maintenance including assisting others as needed
Clean parks and recreational areas and pick up trash
Mark fields to specifications of the leagues and tournaments
Drives a City vehicle from site to site in order to perform duties
Performs other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor and Director of Parks & Recreation

Qualification

Ball-field maintenanceIrrigation repairOperating mowersCommunication skills

Required

Must have enough education to read and write
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License
Basic knowledge of methods, practices and materials used in ball-field maintenance, general maintenance work
Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions
Ability to perform job satisfactorily without constant supervision
Ability to operate push and riding mowers, weed eaters, edger's, tillers and line marking machines
Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites
Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50 to 75 pounds occasionally
Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, sweep, and dig
Ability to walk over uneven, sloped & uneven terrain
Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public
Ability to understand verbal and written communication
