Responsibilities

Define and execute high‑impact research themes aligned to Mott’s market priorities; guide multi‑year technology roadmap development
Define robust experimental frameworks and Design of Experiments (DOE) with clear metrology and acceptance criteria
Execute complex experiments and scale results into manufacturable concepts
Generate invention disclosures and patents; partner with internal and external counsel on IP strategy
Establish and lead research partnerships with academic institutions and national laboratories
Identify external funding opportunities and grant proposals

Required

Ph.D. in Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field. Ceramics knowledge a plus
15+ years of experience in a manufacturing development environment
Deep technical expertise in materials science, mechanical engineering or metallurgy. Knowledge in fluid mechanics is a plus
Excellent planning, project management, customer facing, and communication skills
Demonstrated record of technical breakthroughs evidenced by patents, publications, or products delivered to end users

Security clearance preferred, but not required
