Senior Substation Project Manager (PMP) – Utilities (Remote Option)

They are seeking a Senior Substation Project Manager (PMP) to lead high-voltage substation and power systems projects for utilities, managing the full project life cycle while mentoring a team.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage the successful delivery of substation design and power delivery projects from initiation through closeout
Oversee budgets, schedules, scopes, and resources, ensuring project alignment with client expectations
Serve as primary client contact — managing communication, issue resolution, and long-term relationships
Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation strategies, and track performance metrics for project health
Ensure technical quality and adherence to client standards and industry codes (NESC, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI)
Review and approve project deliverables, including one-lines, schematics, rounding, and wiring diagrams
Mentor and manage project engineers and technical staff — providing guidance, feedback, and professional development
Support business development through proposals, client presentations, and scope-change negotiations
Partner with leadership to continuously improve Primera’s project delivery systems and client satisfaction processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
PMP certification required
12+ years of experience in substation and power systems engineering
2+ years as a Project Engineer
Proven experience managing high-voltage transmission and distribution (T&D) or utility substation design projects
Deep knowledge of substation design principles, including physical and protection & control systems
Strong understanding of utility standards, specifications, and QA/QC processes
Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Office Suite
Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bentley Substation tools
Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Highly organized and client-focused with a passion for teamwork and problem-solving
Preferred
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
PE license is a plus
