Responsibilities

Serves as a project engineer responsible for assigned function of surveillance of contract construction operations of civil and/or military projects
Reviews inspection reports for conformance with conditions and progress
Reads and makes interpretations of the plans and specifications to contractor representatives and subordinate field force
Tours construction sites and observes construction methods and progress to plans and specifications

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering from an accredited program
Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License
Potential to be appointed as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and obtain certification as a COR
One year of specialized experience which includes reading and interpreting plans and specifications, performing contract construction operations for civil and/or military projects, and conducting site inspections for construction progress and conformance
Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone; no substitution of education for experience is permitted
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11)
