Investigative Counsel

The New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service is seeking an Investigative Counsel for its Office of Special Investigations. The role focuses on ensuring quality control in investigations of criminal activity and misconduct within the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, while also collaborating with investigative teams and prosecutors.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Serve as Investigative Counsel in OSI's Quality Assurance Team
Conduct quality control reviews of case files, evidence, and reports
Assist with the analysis of witness statements, physical evidence, documents, and videos
Support the OSI in holding offenders accountable and improving departmental operations
Work with investigative teams on major cases and draft reports for departmental executives
Collaborate with OSI’s analysts on special projects to mitigate risk and assess facility culture

Required

Candidates must be admitted to practice and in good standing with the bar of the State of New York
Minimum of five years of legal experience

Ability to work in a dynamic and busy field, balancing a sense of urgency with thoroughness and accuracy
