Char Network is a pioneering company in Bitcoin R&D led by developer Jeremy Rubin. As an Edge Engineer, you will shape the APIs and developer experience to ensure the protocol is usable and extensible, while collaborating closely with both Core and Integrations Engineers.

Computer Software

Responsibilities

Define clean, intuitive APIs that expose protocol functionality to external developers
Maintain client libraries, SDKs, and bindings in multiple languages
Shape developer workflows around Char's features (transactions, staking, attestations, chain operations)
Create documentation, examples, and reference implementations that make the protocol accessible
Work closely with Core Engineers to refine interfaces based on real-world developer needs
Identify and remove friction points in developer onboarding
Build mock environments, simulators, and integration harnesses to validate API behavior
Ensure cross-platform and cross-language compatibility
Stress-test edge cases to make sure APIs are robust under adversarial conditions
Partner with Integrations Engineers to gather feedback from early adopters
Act as a bridge between protocol development and external developers
Advocate for API and usability improvements across the stack

Required

Strong experience designing and maintaining APIs, SDKs, or developer-facing libraries
Proficiency in at least one systems language (Rust, C++)
Familiarity with distributed systems and blockchain concepts
Solid understanding of software ergonomics and developer workflows
Strong communication skills, with an ability to think from the user's perspective

Preferred

Prior experience building client libraries for blockchain protocols or distributed systems
Knowledge of Bitcoin internals, L2 protocols, or cryptographic primitives
Experience with EVM
Contributions to open-source developer tools or frameworks
Experience with API design standards (OpenAPI/GraphQL/JSON-RPC)
