Field Placement & Special Projects Coordinator

The California State University is seeking a Field Placement & Special Projects Coordinator to facilitate student teaching placements for candidates in the Lurie College of Education. The coordinator will maintain relationships with school district partners and manage various administrative tasks related to field placements and special projects.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for student teaching placements
Build, distribute and collate data from student surveys on placement needs and preferences each term
Contact schools to secure field placements and establish school-based partnerships for field and clinical practicum students
Deliver placement presentations in assigned classes each term for students about to enter the field
Create and maintain database for accurate records for all field placements; disseminate and track required documentations, provide placement data to data manager for the College of Education
Work with Lurie College Administrators to request Student Teaching and Intern MOUs as needed to fulfill placement needs
Developing teacher candidates’ program plans
Use a database to track enrollment, scheduling, advising, and program planning
Update and develop written and online materials that help students and faculty navigate program requirements
Develop and maintain professional contacts with job-alike and complementary roles at SJSU and elsewhere, attend professional development courses, attend regional and national conferences as needed

Required

A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training
Four years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs
Experience establishing and maintaining effective, cooperative, and harmonious working relationships in circumstances that involve the denial of requests or the necessity to persuade others to accept a different point of view
Experience carrying out complex assignments without detailed instructions
Experience collecting and evaluating data to organize complex information
Demonstrated ability to use software applications such as google docs/drives, excel spreadsheets, word processing, and databases
Knowledge of and ability to consistently apply FERPA regulations; awareness of the importance of student confidentiality
Strong-problem solving and creative thinking skills, as well as exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Willingness and experience to present information to student groups
Strong organizational and project management skills
Experience maintaining documentation for accountability purposes

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent
Experience working in or with public elementary, middle or high schools
Experience using and learning technology (Google suite, Zoom, Canvas or other Learning Management System) to effectively communicate
Experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
Credential to teacher K-12 and/or Special Education in California
Experience supporting teacher candidates and/or new teachers
