Postdoctoral Associate - Cytogenetics
Virginia Tech's Entomology Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct cytogenetic and genomic studies on the arboviral vector Aedes aegypti. The role involves characterizing chromosomal rearrangements and studying the molecular basis of genetic divergence in relation to climatic adaptation.

Characterize chromosomal rearrangements in the arboviral vector Aedes aegypti genome
Study the molecular basis of genetic divergence underlying inversion-associated phenotypes
Qualification
Required
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in genetics, cell biology, entomology, or a related discipline received in last five years with at least one year of eligibility remaining
Experience in molecular biology is required, including the use of modern technologies such as Hi-C proximity ligation, advanced cytogenetics, fluorescence in situ hybridization, and bioinformatics
Preferred
Molecular biology and genetics laboratory experience
web computer skills
ability to learn new techniques and procedures
excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
