Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Special Projects

Responsibilities
Create and own integrated solutions for Anduril’s production requirements with lean manufacturing principles, linear flow, and visual management top of mind. That development will include detailed layout alternatives, production flows, space allocations across programs and products, expansion planning, and operating scenarios
Question requirements across product design, layout design, and facility design to ensure that Anduril adopts the most cost- and schedule-effective solutions for our factories while meeting the needs of our business lines
Support design, construction, commissioning and start-up of the production line(s), material flow, and production support processes at new factory sites to ensure successful delivery of the factory and its outputs
Drive collaboration across manufacturing engineering, operations teams, facilities and construction, environmental safety & health, and finance to deliver creative and effective production solutions
Interface with external vendors to support the design, construction, and commissioning of new facilities
Maintain and understand production capacity plans and constraints across several demand scenarios and several product lines
Provide strategic recommendations on product transitions and allocations across sites to optimize manufacturing resources using a data-driven approach. Buy down risk to meet production timelines in new facilities
Develop levers across labor, equipment and facilities to understand how Anduril can increase or decrease throughput with varying levels of investment
Analyze proposed production flows based on CapEx, headcount, or process changes, developing cohesive analysis and return on investment studies
Create analytical tools to address delivery, capacity, and cost issues and guide leadership decision-making
Qualification
Required
You have 8+ years of experience as program manager, industrial engineer, manufacturing engineer, or production/process engineer for hardware products
You have experience with factory layout development in CAD for manufacturing processes and facilities, including analysis of competing options that prioritize contrasting business priorities
You can work hands-on in a manufacturing environment and draw key learnings that are then used to optimize the production systems
You have experience with capacity planning and business operating scenario analysis
You don't wait on others to solve problems. You proactively step into the gap to offer solutions yourself
You are comfortable with and good at communicating broadly and having a lot of eyes on your work. This role can at-times require comms to large groups and senior leadership
Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
Preferred
Prior work with architecture and infrastructure engineering partners and/or general contractors to build, improve or modify production facilities
Experience with energetics manufacturing processes and facilities and have experience with explosive site safety plans
Process improvement, including justification of return on investment for process or operational changes
Application of lean manufacturing and linear flow principles in a production environment
Automation development for manufacturing processes in assembly, integration, test, and finishing operations
Ergonomic studies at the work station and work element level
Experience with leveraging data from MES and ERP to effectively production, inventory, and capacity plan
