Assistant Provost for Assessment and Institutional Research
The City University of New York is seeking an Assistant Provost for Assessment and Institutional Research to align assessment and data initiatives with the institution’s mission and accreditation standards. The role involves overseeing assessment policies, collaborating with academic leadership, and directing institutional research activities.

Responsibilities
Developing and implementing assessment policies and practices college-wide
Guiding the development and implementation of assessment plans at the program, department, and administrative levels
Collaborating with deans, department chairs, and faculty to promote meaningful assessment of student learning outcomes and improvement of programs
Leading assessment and accreditation processes for MSCHE and other accrediting bodies
Developing and delivering training workshops and resources on assessment, data interpretation, and reporting tools
Fostering cross-campus collaboration around data-informed decision-making and institutional improvement
Directing institutional research activities, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting
Managing the production of internal and external reports (e.g., IPEDS, accreditation reports, Common Data Set)
Overseeing institutional surveys and data dashboards to inform planning and decision-making
Supporting data governance and data integrity across academic and administrative units
Qualification
Required
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
Eight years' related experience
5–7 years of experience in institutional research, assessment, accreditation, or related field in a higher education setting
Strong knowledge of MSCHE assessment and accreditation requirements
Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze complex datasets using tools such as SPSS, SAS, R, Power BI, Tableau, or similar
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
Experience with student information systems (e.g., EAB Navigate, Brightspace, Workday)
Familiarity with national data sources (e.g., IPEDS)
Experience leading cross-functional teams or committees
Preferred
Advanced degree in Higher Education, Educational Research, Public Policy, Statistics, or related field (doctorate preferred)
