The Microbiology Lead Tech will perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and participating in quality assurance and training initiatives.

Responsibilities
Performs a full range of clinical laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, immunology, blood bank, microbiology, and coagulation
Maintains in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation
Follows established laboratory protocols and seeks assistance when necessary
Ensures all testing is performed in compliance with CLIA, TJC, and other applicable regulatory standards
Performs pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic activities, ensuring specimen integrity and accuracy of results
Accurately performs and reports patient and proficiency testing results within defined turnaround times
Reviews and validates quality control (QC) results prior to releasing patient results; identifies and resolves QC or instrument issues
Performs routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting; documents problems and corrective actions
Ensures all critical and abnormal results are communicated promptly and documented appropriately
Completes required orientation, competency assessments, and ongoing training per CLIA and laboratory policy
Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to laboratory safety and infection control procedures
Orients and trains new laboratory personnel and students
Participates in continuing education to maintain or expand competency, including training on new tests, methods, or instrumentation
Effectively communicates with supervisors, pathologists, and clinical staff regarding test results, specimen issues, and instrument performance
