The County of San Diego is seeking an innovative and service-oriented executive to serve as its next Director of Human Resources. This role involves providing leadership for all Countywide human resources functions and acting as a key partner to the Board of Supervisors and executive leadership while overseeing a large HR team and budget.

Provide leadership and direction for all Countywide human resources functions
Act as a key partner to the Board of Supervisors, executive leadership, and labor organizations
Oversee 137 staff and a $33.5 million budget
Review the County’s HR model to strengthen operational excellence
Increase consistency in decision making across the County organization
Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and excellence in service to the County’s workforce and residents

Expertise in labor relations, organizational development, risk management, loss prevention, medical standards, benefits administration, workers compensation, workforce information system management, and workforce planning
Public sector experience
Ability to review and strengthen HR operational excellence and consistency in decision making
Ability to foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and excellence in service
