SUPERVISORY BORDER PATROL AGENT (DEPUTY DIVISION CHIEF)
The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Deputy Division Chief) to assist in managing daily division operations and directing law enforcement activities. This role involves providing policy guidance, evaluating law enforcement assignments, and supervising staff to ensure the effectiveness of the division's mission.

Responsibilities
Providing staff with broad policy guidance and direction and resolving complex and highly controversial problems involving the interpreting of broad policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
Assisting the Division Chief in managing daily division operations, making major policy decisions, developing operating plans and budgets, setting program priorities, and directing special operations to meet OBP mission objectives
Planning, directing, and evaluating law enforcement assignments and methods; critically reviewing and recommending changes to regulations and legislation; ensuring timely reporting and adequate support to field units; and maintaining high-level liaison to advance program goals
Supervising through subordinate supervisors by establishing work schedules, evaluating performance, providing employee development and training, taking administrative and disciplinary actions, and making selections, promotions, and reassignments

You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing managerial, technical, and administrative direction and oversight for all Border Patrol related functions within an assigned area; Managing major components of operational programs and their appropriate support functions; Directing the development of nationwide policy and program initiatives; Developing, managing, or directing operational policy or programs related to Border Patrol operations
This position has an Individual Occupational Requirement: Specialized Experience in law enforcement or other responsible work that demonstrated the ability to: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with individuals or groups of persons in a courteous, tactful manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions or take prompt and appropriate law enforcement action in light of applicable laws, court decisions, and sound law enforcement procedures; and develop and maintain contact with a network of informants
Must be proficient in the Spanish language. (i.e., able to speak and read in Spanish)
This position requires that the incumbent meet initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996
Following a tentative job offer, candidates must undergo and successfully complete a medical screening process
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/20/2025
You must possess the ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle. A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required
This position requires regular and recurring shift work. You must be willing and available to work rotating shifts
Overnight travel may be required on a regular and recurring basis
This position requires wearing an officially approved uniform and complying with established grooming standards
You may be required to serve an 18-month probationary period upon appointment to this position
All newly appointed, GS-15s are required to complete mandatory training
