Assistant Professor, Medicine, General Internal Medicine (Medical Director - Cancer Survivorship)
The University of Miami Public Health Sciences is seeking an Assistant Professor of Clinical (Medical Director) in the division of General Internal Medicine, Cancer Survivorship. The role involves providing direct patient medical care and working collaboratively with UHealth leadership to address patient care issues.

Responsibilities
Direct outpatient care to adult internal medicine patients
Ward attending in the GIM inpatient units
Inpatient medical consultation service
Precepting residents in our outpatient resident continuity practice
Participate in medical student, and resident precepting and education
Leading and supporting formal quality improvement (QI)
Supporting QI training
Improving patient satisfaction
Improving patient safety
Peer review, performance improvement, utilization review, root cause analysis, and risk management and patient safety activities as they relate to the discipline
Improving care coordination across disciplines
Ensuring the proper training, education, and oversight for physicians, nurses, and other staff members for the respective discipline
Help to resolve complaints and grievances related to faculty physicians in the discipline
Identify and help resolve conflict between the medical staff of the discipline and hospital staff
Development of quality key performance indicators (KPIs)
Monitoring quality KPIs
Encouraging non-provider staff education
Supporting medical education for faculty and non-faculty providers
Provider staffing
Bi-directional communication with the Service Chief/Department Chair/Division Chief on staffing and resources
Schedules
Supporting hospital and clinic staff policies and medical staff compliance with hospital and medical staff bylaws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable regulatory standards
Support physician recruitment and retention in the discipline
Resolving conflict between the medical staff of the discipline and hospital or clinic staff
Supporting clinical research priorities with faculty physicians of the discipline
Serving as an active member of medical staff and hospital committees
Participate in strategic planning
Assure availability of physician faculty in the division for consultation and emergency coverage
Report out on a monthly basis to the Director of Cancer Survivorship and Supportive Care on the initiatives surrounding primary care and cancer survivorship
Attends monthly Cancer Survivorship Leadership meetings
Supports and is involved in cancer survivorship research, when applicable
Communicates with clinical operations leaders and reports updates periodically on the clinical care and support being provided
Provides suggestions to improve primary care being provided to cancer survivors from data like Press Ganey and other surveys
Assures all providers providing primary care support to cancer survivors have the required training and competency when being onboarded and annually
Communicates with other service line leaders and chiefs and provides updates on the support and services being provided from a primary care perspective to cancer survivors to assure awareness and efficient use of services
Able to identify needs and resources essential to the continued success of the program
Educates and presents in various platforms at the local, national, and international level the role of the primary care provider in cancer survivorship care
Qualification
Required
Valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine
Awarded degree of M.D. or D.O. from an ABIM recognized internal medicine residency
Valid and unrestricted Florida Medical License or eligible to apply
Must maintain CME to meet institutional and state licensing requirements
Must have excellent clinical knowledge and experience to provide safe and quality care to patients and meet institutional standards of care
Must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with staff, patients, and family members
Must demonstrate the ability to meet responsibilities of the position
Preferred
Experience working and teaching in academic setting highly desired
