Responsibilities
Work as part of a team to construct, install, set-up and maintain instructional and research lab equipment in the Mechanical Engineering department, in labs both on the S&T campus and on the MSU campus
Have some mechanical skills as well as a good base in electronics and computers
Schedule tasks to ensure that experiments are set up and ready to run at the appropriate time and that all the required materials and supplies are in place
Work on construction, updating, troubleshooting and repairing a wide variety of laboratory equipment from simple mechanical systems to delicate electronic instrumentation to CNC machine tooling to laser systems, and everything in between
Spend time both on the S&T campus and the MSU campus (Plaster center) each week. The amount of time will be dependent on what is going on at any one time, but expect to go to Springfield at least one day per week
Work directly with students and faculty to evaluate problems and suggest and implement solutions to complex problems
Assist with development, construction, installation and maintenance of instructional and research laboratory equipment as directed
Qualification
Required
An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
