Responsibilities
Perform a variety of precision surface grinding operations using hand grinders
Use portable grinders to remove surface defects such as laps, seams, pits and cracks as identified by in-process inspection. Use dyes penetrant to detect cracks
Check materials for dimensional accuracy
Visually inspect materials for surface defects and mark off for cut-off operations
Exercise identity by heat number, order number, or other identifying coding
Detect and report damaged material, improper operations. Refer questionable matters to proper supervision
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
Follow prescribed safety regulations
Perform other duties as required or directed
At times, load and unload machine
Qualification
Required
General high school diploma or GED
Abide by the ethical standards and requirements established by the ethics code
Employees must be familiar with the Allvac quality policy, and this policy must be used as the guide in performing every aspect of the job
Use ordinary arithmetic, decimals and fractions
Work from shop orders, instructions, make simple use of specifications
Use micrometers, gauges, and scale
Over 6 and up to 9 months experience
