Senior Accountant II

Achievers Network is seeking a Senior Accountant II who will conduct complex accounting assignments and provide training to less experienced staff. This role involves maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles while optimizing processes and enhancing efficiency.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Accurately maintains complex accounting records and performs all related accounting functions
Oversees preparation of daily entries and monitoring of accounts. Maintains account balances
Prepares complex accounting journal entries and monthly financial statements where applicable
Maintains current accounting policies and practices
Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Reconciliation and resolution of outages from complex accounts
Responsible for assisting in performing complex special accounting projects
Optimizing the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Continuously searches for process improvements within our organization in an effort to automate and simplify
Leverages technology to enhance efficiency and productivity
Identifies opportunities to improve the accounting processes and plays a key role in the integration of a new accounting system
Coordinates month end accounting activities with other departments, divisions and affiliates
Ensures that all accounting entries and reports are completed on a timely and accurate basis in accordance with Bancorp accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ensures the completion and accuracy of all account reconciliations
Responsible for developing and maintaining appropriate business relationships with internal and external customers
Provides training and guidance to less experienced accountants
Allocates work and reviews work of less experienced staff accountants
Works with staff accountants to set and achieve department objectives
Guides and advises subordinates
Develops cross training programs and ensures the adequate delegation of duties and responsibilities
Resolves routine personnel issues
Responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of the Bancorp’s accounting information and input into the financial systems
Responsible for assisting in G/L account setup and maintenance
Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of G/L accounting and reporting changes
Responsible for daily G/L uploads and ensuring the operational effectiveness of the system
Prepares various complex financial statements and monthly reports
Daily, monthly, and quarterly financial statements
Assists examiners in carrying out examinations of the Bancorp (Audit, Government, etc.)
Responds to inquiries from management, auditors and other authorities regarding the accounting issues, data in reports and financial statements issued by the department, policies, and procedures

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics required
Minimum of 4 years of industry or public accounting related experience
Banking or accounting related experience required
Proficient in advanced spreadsheet applications such as Excel, Microsoft Word, etc
Demonstrate ability to learn and understand Bancorp systems such as Frontier, Mobius, Raft, Business Objects & TM1
Excellent communications, organization and follow up skills
Excellent people/relationship building skills
Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to apply critical thought process
Capable of prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines
Ability to communicate clearly & concisely with other Finance Staff, managers and department leaders
May also interact with senior management & executive leaders

Preferred

Masters Degree or other certification (CPA, CMA, etc.)
