Associate Professor/ Founding Program Director, Pediatric Dentistry
High Point University is seeking an Associate Professor/Founding Program Director for Pediatric Dentistry to lead the development of a new residency program within the Workman School of Dental Medicine. The role involves faculty recruitment, supervision of residents, providing patient care, and ensuring accreditation standards are met.

Responsibilities
Pediatric Dentistry program development
Familiarity with and management of all program-related documents and reporting platforms including, but not limited to, resident employment, resident attendance, faculty onboarding, resident licensure, resident requirements, resident and program outcomes, resident certification, and GME-related and program-related policies
Oversight and monitoring of all program-related evaluations and reporting
Orientation of new residents and faculty
Point-of-contact person for any issues related to the Pediatric Dentistry program
Implementation of quality improvement (QI) measures across the Pediatric Dentistry program to ensure highest level of patient care and residency learning are being always provided
Utilizing proactive approaches to mitigate errors and root cause analysis to reduce errors
Frequent travel to practice sites to ensure faculty and resident experiences are being met
In addition to developing the inaugural Pediatric Dentistry program at Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM), the founding program director will ensure that it meets all standards required by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA)
This includes preparation for internal program audit (mock visits) and ensuring compliance of all practice sites within the oral health network
During the program accreditation process, the individual will be expected to see pediatric dental patients
Development of residency curriculum, faculty calibration, evidence-based care guidelines, continuing education, and teaching pre-doctoral students in accordance with the needs of the Assistant Dean of Curriculum and Innovation
Qualification
Required
DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent), active full dental licensure in the state of North Carolina
Completion of a CODA-accredited pediatric dentistry program in the US
Must be certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry
5 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistry
Proficiency in providing pediatric dental care in an ambulatory, inpatient, operating room and urgent care setting
Robust verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional receptiveness and approachability
Poised and professional in representation of HPU WSDM
Receptive to feedback, performance improvement, and continuous coaching
Knowledge of HPU SDMOH's core values and mission
Strong ability to articulate operational and analytical data
Clinical documentation, diagnosis, and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems
Travel to oral health network sites
Developing affiliations with associated healthcare systems (children's hospitals)
