The State of Missouri is seeking an Administrative Field Intern (Chemist) to conduct entry-level chemical and physical tests and analyses. This role involves performing quantitative and qualitative analyses, maintaining records, and working with staff on research projects under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses of bituminous materials, paints, soil fertility, metals, concrete, reflective materials, and other materials used in the construction and maintenance of the state highway

Performs calculations, maintains records, tracks materials, and prepares reports on all testing activities and results

Follows necessary procedures to properly handle and dispose of hazardous and carcinogenic waste generated by laboratory testing

Calibrates, use, and maintain precision test equipment including pycnometers, Ph meters, thermometers, and other test equipment

Work with staff on research projects as needed

Required

Enrolled in a relevant bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program full-time (12+ credit hours)

30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply

Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent
