SUPERVISORY SECURITY GUARD
NORAD is seeking a Supervisory Security Guard to protect federally owned or leased buildings and property from hazards such as sabotage, trespass, theft, fire, and accidental or willful damage and destruction. The role involves planning, directing, and organizing the Security Guard Force and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of a Security Guard Force, ensuring that Command Security complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs
Exercises supervisory and personnel management responsibilities
Represents the organization and coordinates security efforts with other organizations within NORAD and USNORTHCOM
Directs immediate response to incidents involving security breaches, potential threats to persons or installation facilities under area of responsibility, property, and alarms involving priority resources located in restricted areas

This position is designated by the Air Force as a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program
As a mandatory requirement for employment in this TDP, the incumbent is (A) to refrain from use of illegal drugs and (B) if required, to submit to urinalysis testing
The selectee must sign a statement acknowledging the position occupied is identified as a TDP
May be required to perform Battle Roster functions during Exercise and Real World events
Battle Roster functions may include, but are not limited to, Joint Personnel Operation Cell, Contingency Command Center, Future Operations Center, Joint Enabling Capability, and other tasks as assigned
These duties may require additional duty hours and/or alternate duty locations
Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968
An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of the position
Incumbent must pass an initial, pre-employment medical and psychological examination, periodic medical and psychological examinations
Also, required initial and annual Air Force physical fitness/physical agility tests, meet established hearing standards, and discern colors, contrast, and depth
The incumbent must immediately report any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medical requirements
Must pass initial formal law enforcement training school as determined by functional
A Top Secret/Special Sensitive clearance is required for this position
The employee is required to possess and maintain a Top Secret/Special Sensitive as a condition of employment
Per AFGM2017-36-04, the investigative requirement CANNOT be waived for special sensitive positions
Incumbent must maintain annual first responder training/certification required in CPR techniques, self aid, buddy care, and first aid
Incumbent must wear a uniform and meet applicable Air Force dress and appearance standards
Incumbent is subject to annual duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard
Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties
May be required to work uncommon tour of duty, to include nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, rotating shifts, and recall
Is required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, armored vests, helmets, and/or chemical protective equipment
May be exposed to high levels of noise such as aircraft engines and weapons fire
This position is designated as mission essential based on local conditions
Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or has delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release
This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and/or commercial aircraft
In the performance of assigned duties, employee uses tact, diplomacy, and professionalism to promote effective working relationships with a variety of offices and agencies
Position is a Special Sensitive Security Clearance the selectee must possess this clearance prior to starting in the position
If selectee does not possess this clearance, a full investigation and favorable security adjudication must be complete and rendered prior to beginning in the position
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems
Examples of specialized experience includes work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life
Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible
One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of applicable AF and DoD law enforcement and security rules, regulations, instructions, practices, principles and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, anti-terrorism and physical security
Knowledge of security guard procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of guard activities independently
Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls and preventing unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are in force
Knowledge of the rights of detained individuals and organizational rules regarding the appropriate use of force
Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures
Ability to learn the operation of specialized weapons, equipment, and integrated base defense security systems
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
