Responsibilities

Conduct thorough title examinations and prepare detailed title opinions for oil and gas properties in West Virginia, Ohio, and/or Pennsylvania
Review and analyze property records, including deeds, leases, and other legal documents, to determine ownership and title status
Identify and resolve title defects and issues, providing clear and concise recommendations for curative actions
Collaborate with landmen, clients, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation
Stay up-to-date with state-specific laws, regulations, and industry standards related to oil and gas title opinions
Draft and review legal documents related to oil and gas transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on matters related to oil and gas title opinions and property rights
Maintain accurate and organized records of all title examinations and opinions

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active state bar membership in good standing
Minimum of 3 years of experience in oil and gas law, with a focus on writing title opinions
Strong understanding of property law, title examination, and curative processes in West Virginia, Ohio, and/or Pennsylvania
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in legal research tools and title examination software
Familiarity with state-specific oil and gas regulations and industry standards
