E & I Technician

Responsibilities
Actively support, promote, and lead safety initiatives and programs. Follow all safety policies and procedures. Work closely with all team members to ensure that work is performed in a safe manner. Report any unsafe work or work environments to management
Clean, repair, and overhaul motors, generators, starters, controls, and drives
Perform troubleshooting, routine maintenance and repair methods on:
Plant fire protection equipment
Plant building lighting and power systems
Fuel handling equipment
Main steam generator controls
Turbine generator controls
Plant electrical distribution systems
Critical power systems (battery and diesel generator)
Electronic controls
Station HVAC and control
Tune station and auxiliary combustion control systems
Makeup, wastewater, feedwater, and condensate system controls
Calibrate all transducers measuring pressure, temperature flow, and level
Calibrate turbine/generator controls and supervisory systems
Calibrate electric and pneumatic controls, operators and positioners
Plant pollution control device monitoring equipment and complete all required reports and maintain all required files
Plant data acquisition system
Environmental, including active carbon injection system, dry sorbent injection system, bag house, and selective catalytic reduction system
Install conduit, cable, equipment, and controls
Safely work on energized equipment when necessary
Safely work on and around energized equipment and systems that may produce pressure of 6000 PSI, temperatures of 1000 F, or high voltage components when necessary
Complete assigned work orders and equipment records to Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the work performed on the equipment specified in the work order
Requires ability to read electrical, mechanical, and P&ID prints. Maintain electrical drawings and prints to ensure up-to-date status
Develops, maintains, and uses reliable methods for all electrical and instrument maintenance processes and procedures
Maintain a high degree of proficiency by attending training programs offered. Assist in the training of E&I Trainees or Apprentices
Maintain electrical, instrument, and pneumatic test and safety equipment in proper operating order
Maintain clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas
Be familiar with equipment vendor information files, reports, maintenance procedures, and other written materials. Work with OEM support as required on equipment issues
Comply with all company policies as well as local, state and federal laws/regulations
Other duties historically performed by this classification and other related or comparable duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must have completed a state-approved E&I apprenticeship program or possess comparable education and work experience
Applicant must have a background in mathematics, computer software, and basic mechanical skills
Experience is required reading schematics, logic diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), pneumatics, and troubleshooting electrical equipment
Applicant must possess basic knowledge in instrumentation applications and process control
Associate degree in Electrical, Instrumentation or a directly related field required plus three years related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
