Senior Energy Assurance Engineer

They are seeking a Senior Energy Assurance Engineer to support the development and technical evaluation of cost-effective energy resilience solutions for Department of the Air Force installations, leading coordination with stakeholders and assessing distributed energy technologies.

Responsibilities
Lead technical reviews of Installation Energy Plans (IEPs), Resilience Solution Reports (RSRs), and power purchase agreements (PPAs), assessing resilience effectiveness across all review stages (25%, 50%, 90%)
Identify gaps in proposed system designs, recommend improvements, and guide stakeholders on integrating conventional and renewable backup generation sources
Analyze infrastructure needs for electrical segmentation, islanding, and interconnection with DAF systems
Advise on acquisition strategy development, regulatory factors, and utility contracting procedures to support clean and resilient power procurement
Coordinate with federal research labs and other stakeholders to assess feasibility of emerging energy technologies
Assist in preparing resilience-focused energy project justifications, technical memoranda, and supporting documents
Support federal grant applications to secure supplemental funding for resilience upgrades
Contribute to curriculum development and delivery of energy resilience training for installation and enterprise-level audiences
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering. Preference given to candidates with a degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Additional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are desirable
Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with emphasis on technical evaluation of electrical systems, renewable energy integration, and installation-level resilience planning
Familiarity with Air Force energy programs, policies, and acquisition processes
Demonstrated expertise in evaluating distributed energy resources (DER), electrical distribution systems, and resilience-focused power strategies
Experience supporting utility contracting, rate analysis, and performance validation of clean energy systems
Proficiency with BLCC, EnergyPlus, Simergy, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint
U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret security clearance is required, with the ability to maintain clearance at the required level
