Responsibilities
Lead protection and control (P&C) design for high-voltage transmission and distribution substations
Develop relay coordination studies, SCADA schematics, control wiring diagrams, bus layouts, and substation design packages using tools such as ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, or SEL relays
Collaborate with physical design and civil/structural engineering teams to integrate bus layouts and grounding systems
Conduct protection coordination, relay settings, and system analysis using tools such as ASPEN, CAPE, or ETAP
Review P&C deliverables for compliance with NESC, IEEE standards, and client specifications
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance for complex substation projects
Support proposals, cost estimates, and scoping for new substation P&C projects
Collaborate with utility and EPC clients to deliver reliable, innovative substation designs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an active Professional Engineer (PE) license
8+ years of experience in substation protection and control design or power systems engineering for utilities, EPCs, or consulting firms
Working knowledge of transmission and distribution substation equipment, high-voltage protection schemes, and grounding interfaces
Strong technical background in substation layouts, bus design, grounding systems, and as-built design packages
Proficiency with relays, SCADA systems, and P&C engineering tools (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, SEL)
Strong communication, project leadership, mentoring, and cross-discipline coordination skills
Experience with utility and EPC client standards
